Preparation for Class
Frequently Asked Questions
What if I have never done yoga before?
There is no need to worry about doing yoga prior to trying classes at Fusion
Hot Yoga. The classes are designed for beginners with plenty of detailed
information to lead people of all ages and levels of ability safely through
the class. It also offers the seasoned yogi continued growth.
What if you're not flexible?
Then this yoga is for you! You do Hot Yoga to stretch your body and spine
in order to increase your flexibility and strength. This yoga attracts all
shapes, sizes and fitness levels. Anyone can do it!
Why is the room heated?
The room is intentionally heated to warm up your entire body which will
allow you to work deeper into your muscles, ligaments and joints without
injury. The heat provides a level of detoxification through sweating.
What should you bring?
Please bring a yoga mat if you have one, bath-size towel, and a bottle of
water. We sell and hire water, towels and yoga mats.
What should you wear?
Women wear shorts or fitted three quarter pants with a sports bra, tank
top etc. Men should wear shorts, short tights or a bathing suit. Remember
- you'll be sweating so avoid long pants and loose clothes. The less clothing
the better.
How long is the class?
Most classes are 90 minutes in duration. Early morning classes and some
weekend classes are 60 minutes. Consult the timetable for further information.
What if I feel dizzy, faint or nauseous in the class, is this
normal?
It is absolutely normal to feel a bit out of sorts as you begin doing Hot
Yoga. All the symptoms are just ways your body will communicate with you.
These symptoms are signs that your body is detoxing. Most of these sensations
can also be signs of dehydration, so make sure you are always well hydrated
before class. Drinking water throughout the day will help to energize you
during your practice. Remember if you do experience a little dizziness or
you feel faint, please lie down as instructed by the teachers. Over time,
and the more you are able to practice, these symptoms will disappear.
How often should you come?
Come as often as you can. The time and effort you put into Hot Yoga will
be returned to you tenfold. We recommend 3 or more times per week, especially
in the beginning. Within four weeks you will see (and feel) noticeable differences!
Can you eat before class?
You should come to class on an empty stomach. You should not eat food 1
1/2 hours prior to the class.
What about water?
You should drink plenty of water every day. This is better than just drinking
water before or during class. With Hot Yoga, you are simultaneously cleansing
all the systems of your body from the inside out. It is important to stay
hydrated so your elimination systems (bowel, urinary, and skin) can support
your efforts.
What if you have injuries or illness?
Please let the teacher know if you have any injuries, illnesses, special
conditions or are pregnant. Please note:- anyone who has hypertension (high blood pressure) or type 2 diabetes please obtain a doctor’s clearance prior to starting class. Anyone pregnant, trying to fall pregnant or on the IVF programme cannot go into a heated room.
